Having Husn adh-Dhann (Good thoughts) towards Muslims

Allah Most High has said,

Verily, some suspicions are sins…

_

From Rasulullah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, who said,

“To have good thoughts (or suspicions) is from well-conducted worship.”

[Abu Dawood]

_

And our Beloved, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, also reminded us,

“Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the gravest lie in talk and do not be inquisitive about one another and do not spy upon one another and do not feel envy with the other, and nurse no malice, and nurse no aversion and hostility against one another. And be fellow-brothers and servants of Allah.”

[Sahih Muslim]

_

“Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales; and do not look for the others’ faults and do not spy, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert one another, and do not hate one another; and oh Allah’s worshippers! Be brothers.”

[Sahih Bukhari]

_

Umar Ibn Khattab (radhi allahu ‘anhu) used to say: “If your Muslim brother makes an ambiguous statement to you, you should only think the best and you will find a good explanation for it.”

[Muwatta Imaam Maalik]
